§ 02

How the estimate is built

The estimator looks up your vehicle value against a curated rate-band table for PH insurers, then applies multipliers for vehicle age, region, and driver age. CTPL is largely fixed by the Insurance Commission's published tariff, so its range is tight. Comprehensive cover varies more, so we present a low/mid/high range. This is not a quote — your actual premium will depend on your driving record, vehicle make/model, and the specific add-ons you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Is car insurance required in the Philippines?

CTPL (Compulsory Third-Party Liability) insurance is legally required to register any motor vehicle with the LTO. Comprehensive insurance — which also covers your own car against accident, theft, and acts of nature — is optional but strongly recommended, especially for newer or financed vehicles.

What's the difference between CTPL and comprehensive insurance?

CTPL only covers bodily injury or death to a third party (someone else) caused by your vehicle. It doesn't pay to fix your car, doesn't cover theft, and doesn't cover the driver. Comprehensive adds own-damage cover, third-party property damage, acts of nature, theft, and usually personal accident for the driver and passengers.

How much does comprehensive car insurance cost in the Philippines?

Comprehensive premiums in 2026 are typically 1.8–2.5% of vehicle market value per year, with NCR rates running ~10% higher than the provinces. A ₱1M car in Metro Manila often lands around ₱22,000–₱28,000/year; a ₱600K car in Mindanao closer to ₱12,000–₱16,000. The estimator above gives a ballpark from these bands — your insurer's actual quote will depend on your driving history, vehicle make, and chosen add-ons.

Why is my premium higher in NCR than in the provinces?

Insurers price by claim frequency. Metro Manila has higher traffic density, theft incidence, and flood exposure than most provincial areas, so premiums are loaded ~10% higher. If you garage your vehicle outside NCR, mention it when getting a quote — some insurers offer a small discount.

Can I insure an old car (more than 20 years)?

Comprehensive coverage is generally unavailable for vehicles older than 20 years from mainstream PH insurers. You'll typically be limited to CTPL (legally required) and may find some specialty insurers offering limited third-party property coverage. The estimator flags this case explicitly.

Is this an actual quote?
